Following the statement of the European Commission, which has just finished an expert review of Bulgaria's readiness to enter the Schengen zone, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on the Council of Europe to accept Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia into Schengen in December. 547 deputies voted in favor, 49 against, 43 abstained. The current report on the readiness of the candidate countries will be ready by the end of October, and on December 8-9 there will be a vote on this issue at the summit of the European Council. The expansion of the Schengen area is expected from January 1, 2023.
